It was raining in New York State. I was planning to visit the Niagara Falls, but the cold rain made me change my mind : I just wanted to go back home. I stopped, parked my car on the side of the street and looked at my maps. The windows of my car were closed and the radio was playing softly. Suddenly, a man opened the door and got into my car. “Turn that thing off” he said, and he turned off my radio himself. Then he looked at me. - “You’re lost, aren’t you ? I’ll help you. Now, let’s see: where do you want to go?” - “Well, I wanted to go to the Niagara Falls but...” - “Good. Throw those maps away. I’ll show you the way. - “Yes, but I want to go…” “I know ! Just listen to me, OK? Now, turn around, go two traffic lights, and you’ll come to a big road: that’s Washington Boulevard. Turn left and about two hundred yards from there is a curb. Right after that curb, you’ll come to a small road on your left : go slow or you’ll miss it. Follow that road and you’ll see a bridge on your left. But don’t take that bridge, just go straight on. Pass the baseball field and you’ll see three branching roads. There’s a big red house on the left-hand branch. Don’t take that one, but take the righthand branch.
