Locations and forms of Power
Intro : I will talk about the notion ‘Locations and forms of Power’. There are different forms of power, the economic, politic, administrative, social … powers. But power is also an ability or a capacity to do something, to influence the behavior of others. We will talk about the counter-powers and the evolution of the woman’s status.
So how men’s can express themselves against the authority (the power in place) and how the woman’s status evolves since several centuries?
Développement: First of all we can deal with the Fourth Power : the press and the media. Nowadays they are constantly evolving. With the progress of mobile phones, computers, tablets … the access of different news, information’s of many origins is really easy and quick. Thanks to social networks for example people can reflect and share them ideas … .
Also people can gather, assemble firstly in internet then they can organize manifestations … For example in France there is a new movement ‘Nuit Debout’ which protest against the new law about the work. This movement dawned in facebook and now many people protest in many cities.
They are politics demonstration but it exist also cultural demonstration. Thanks to the social networks people can organize flash mobs. For example in Philadelphia some years ago, some people organized flash mobs to show to everybody the classical music.
We can work on a different aspect of the power or the inequitable distribution of the power between men and women’s. Nowadays the women don’t have the same rights than the men in all the countries and it is really problematic. Because of machismo there are many disparities. For example for a same job the wages of men is more important than the wages of women. In many countries it exist different association, groups which help the women is conflict with a men for different raisons (violence, work …). But personally I think that it’s not normal that we have to be helped by an association. The government has to protect the women and to treat them like men. It exist an international day for the elimination of the violence against the womens (the 25 of November) en relation with the murder of the 3 sisters Mirabal en Republic Dominicana because of their politic commitment.
Conclusion : To conclude I think we have to fight against racists, macho, all the government which don’t respect all the people in the world. The equality of sex has to be respect everywhere.
Now thanks to the evolution of the press, the news method of communication, the liberty of many countries we can gather and share our ideas and thoughts.
