Since the age of nine, I've been an avid mineral collector. I've come across all kinds of minerals in my lifetime, some of different shapes and sizes, colors and nuances, the whole nine yards. I got into mineral collecting because my great-grandfather was an iron ore miner during the american gold rush and as such, my family has been passing them down from generation to generation culminating in a vast mineral collection hidden in the family manor. The only person I've ever know to have a slightly better collection than mine is my father. He keeps his most precious gems - which are in fact worthless rocks -in a vault, allowing them to age over time thinking he'll be rich off them one day. His must be the most impressive assortment of minerals I've ever known : thousands of quartz,olivine,biotite,gypsum and much much more. I'll have to bite my tongue for now and see what the future holds for mineral collectors, only time will tell...
