Bonjour, pour un projet je devais écrire une synthèse en Anglais et j'aurais peur que quelques fautes s'y sois glissée. Quelqu'un pourrait vérifier, merci. :)
Our topic is : Dunkirk, Second World War : War lived, War seen. During our work we tried to answer the problematic we found :What is the impact of the war in Dunkirk over time ?
Our work is divided in three part. The first one is about living the war where the dynamo operation, the heavy war occupation, the living conditions, the diseases, the women & children are the main subjects. We tried to understand how was the conditions for people to live in Dunkirk at this time, how hard it was to live with the pressure of the war occupation, how complicated was to change its way of living for women, children and man.
Then, we worked on the after-war: Reconstruction and Transformation, which includes “Les 30 Glorieuses”, the architecture and the living conditions after the war. After a few years under the war, the people of Dunkirk can finally breath, as their city that has suffered a lot. Now, they can enjoy the consumer society, the new jobs in factories. Dunkirk can also benefit from the change by through reconstruction. The women live a drastic change. If, due to Petain, the rights of women fade after the war, they are attributed to women as rewards. They earn their voting rights, a salary equal to the man according to the laws, a maternity leave, open a bank account without the agreement of anybody.
Finally, we finished on the memory by asking ourselves what remains of authentic World War II in our region ? So, we started to understand the words, in connection with the war, around us, like the word Bunker and Blockhaus. Afterwards, we found that a lot of Bunker are still in our region and are very artistic. This reminds us, just by walking on the dam, our historical heritage.
Also, We can not miss out the movie of Nolan: Dunkirk. Even though, the Dynamo Operation was taking place more than 70 years ago, it is still relevant.
To conclude, even it was a long time ago, we still live the war via the rests of it and the things it brought after the war was over.
