The way a sunset paints the eaves.
I like the laughter of a child,
And when the world's a little wild.
I dislike the bitter taste of hate,
The way it poisons and creates debate.
I dislike the tears of a broken heart,
When love and trust are torn apart.
I like the warmth of a friendly smile,
And how it makes life feel worthwhile.
I like the beauty of a starry night,
When the universe shines oh so bright.
I dislike the cruelty in our world,
The injustices and banners unfurled.
I dislike when kindness is ignored,
And empathy is something deplored.
In this life, with its twists and turns,
There are things I love, and some that churns.
But through it all, I strive to see,
The beauty in love, and empathy.
