Going on holiday with or without your pet is not an easy decision. The same question comes up
again and again: what to do with your four-legged friend?
The best idea would be to take your pet along with you, but in the best possible travel conditions.
During the trip, do not forget to give it enough water and exercise: stop the car regularly and let it
out. Never leave an animal alone in the car exposed under the sun, it could die of dehydration.
If your pet suffers from travel sickness, do not hesitate to give it medicine against nausea. Your vet
will advise you on different types of medicine and preventative measures. Find out from railway
and airplane companies about fares which may vary depending on the size and weight of the pet.
Unfortunately, it is not always convenient to take pets along on holiday. How about trying to set
up an arrangement with neighbours or family members? You could babysit their pet for a week
and they could repay the favour another time. There are also other possibilities such as sending
your pet to a “pet hotel”, a foster family, or an animal keeper.
