At first look we can see that the painting is in black in white. We can see many what seem to be workers or I'd say slaves collecting cotton. The slaves look exhausted from working, there is a horse that helps them carry all the cotton. In the background it appears we can see a long field of cotton waiting to be collected. The slaves look weak and hungry, their thin and don't seem to be well treated either.
