Bonjour!
Merci encore! -- 23ToutSavoir
Im finally in London and i will stay a couple of days at Tom's house. There's so much to visit but there are 2 main things i would really love to visit. It is Big Ben and Madame Tussauds.
What is Madame Tussauds you may ask? Madame Tussauds is a wax museum in London. It was founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud in 1835. Madame Tussauds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying the waxworks of famous and historical figures, as well as popular film and television characters played by famous actors. The nearest station to the museum is Baker Street which is at the walking distance of 120 metres.
I would really love to visit it because i get to see a lot of remarkable and famous people. Even tho they are just wax statues, they look very realistic and it is very interesting. Must be very nice to take good pictures there.
A lot of people know about BigBen but did you know BigBem is the nickname for the Great Bell of the striking clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster. The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin in a neo-Gothic style. When completed in 1859, its clock was the largest and most accurate four-faced striking and chiming clock in the world. The tower stands 96 m tall, and the climb from ground level to the belfry is 334 steps. All four nations of the UK are represented on the tower in shields featuring a rose for England, thistle for Scotland, shamrock for Northern Ireland, and leek for Wales. On 31 May 2009, celebrations were held to mark the tower's 150th anniversary.
Big Ben is the largest of the tower's five bells and weighs 13.5 long tons. It was the largest bell in the United Kingdom for 23 years. The tower is a British cultural icon recognised all over the world. It is one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom and parliamentary democracy, and it is often used in the establishing shot of films set in London. The clock tower has been part of a Grade I listed building since 1970 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
It is such a wonderful and interesting clock tower isn't it? With a lot of background and stories this really marks the UK. It is such an important and beautiful monument. I would love to visit it at night so I could see all of the majestic lights that aluminates the tower. What an incredible tower to see! There's nothing like it.
