“My routine is extremely demanding. I wake up at 5 a.m. every morning to exercise. Every single day of my life, I follow a strict diet drawn up by a nutritionist. I can only eat whatever I want once a month, but with some restrictions. I haven’t been out to a bar with friends for over four years because I’m not allowed to drink alcohol and also because I need to be in bed by 9 p.m. to get enough rest for the next day. If there is a competition coming, I have to spend at least a month before in a hotel to get into the right frame of mind and to avoid distractions from my home life – that means no contact from family or friends. But, although it seems like I don’t have a life of my own, I don’t regret for a minute becoming an athlete and representing my country. I think it’s just incredible to see what my body is capable of.”
