1) In the classroom, a teacher asks the students to read the text "Global issue – The climate is crashing, and global arming is to blame". Based on the reading, the teacher writes the following questions on the board and asks the students to identify which one has its answers according to the paragraph pointed: Why is the image of earth as organism not effective anymore? – First paragraph How many scientists have been warning people about the danger of global warming? – First paragraph Where is Bill Chameides teaching atmospheric chemistry at present? - Second paragraph So, to answer the teacher’s activity, the student should read the text using scanning technique.Taking scanning technique into account, consider the following statements. I. Scanning is reading rapidly in order to get a general overview of the material. II. Scanning is reading rapidly in order to find specific facts. III. Use scanning in previewing (reading before you read), reviewing (reading after you read), determining the main idea from a long selection you don't wish to read, or when trying to find source material for a research paper. IV. Use scanning in research to find particular facts, to study fact-heavy topics, and to answer questions requiring factual support. Considering scanning technique, it is only correct what is stated in: Alternativas: a) I and III. b) II and IV. c) I and IV. d) II and III. e) I, II and III.
