prétérit be+ V-ing = action passée qui était en cours
1- She was studying when the phone rang.
2- They didn't go to the party last night.

5- He didn't attend the meeting at 3 PM yesterday.
6- Did you visit the museum on Saturday ?
7- My parents travelled to Europe last summer. (travelled = British English / traveled = American English)
8- The cat wasn't sleeping when I came home.

prétérit
on utilise le prétérit de l'auxiliaire "do" qui est "did", et par conséquent le verbe reprend sa base verbale.
prétérit be+ V-ing
BE étant déjà un auxiliaire, on fait une simple inc=version sujet/ was/were
