11-Why did you lie ? You could have told the truth.
12-He lay in bed, thinking of nothing.
13- He fell downstairs.

to lie (mentir) > lied; lied (régulier)
to lay (poser à plat) > laid, laid (irrégulier)
to lie (être étendu, s' allonger) > lay, lain (irrégulier)

pour les interrogations et négations
On utilise le prétérit de l'auxiliaire "dod" qui est "did"
L'auxiliaire prenant la marque du prétérit, le verbe reprend sa Base Verbale.
interrogation
did + sujet + BV + ?
négation
sujet + did + not + Base Verbale (didn't en forme contractée)
ATTENTION
cette règle ne s'applique pas à "be" puisqu'il est déjà auxiliaire
