1. Describe the two pictures briefly. 2. Compare the two pictures. Do they have the same atmosphere and provoke the same reaction? 3. Based on these pictures, what do you think is the difference between a utopia and a dystopia?
In the middle ground of picture 1 we can see a fabulous city shining in the light of the sun behind it, in the background to the right there is a dark sky where we can see planets and stars and spaceships, in the background to the left there is a light blue sky with clouds and the sun. Finally in the foreground we can see many people standing on a hilltop looking and the sparkling city.
In picture 2 it is dark, in the background we can see tall buildings and skyscrapers that look like they have been abandoned, over these buildings the sky is grey with dark clouds. In the foreground we can see several buildings that have been destroyed because there are building blocks on the ground and parts of buildings sticking out on the right and left hand sides of the image.
(Si elle est à long, vous pouvez le raccourcir, mais j’ai pensé qu’il serait préférable d’avoir plus que moins.)
2.
No they do not provoke the same reaction. The first image looks very appealing as if it were just the place someone would want to go, however the second image makes one feel dismal and sad, it would be just the kind of place no-one would want to go.
3.
A utopia would be like picture : it is beautiful, perfect, and the place of dreams.
A dystopia is like picture 2 : it is dark, full of ruin the place were no-one lives happily.
