Lets talk about the notion «MYTHS AND HEROES», A myth means « a story » that may or may not be true. There may not be records or other proof that they happened, but at least some parts of myths may be true. Some myths may have started as ‘true’ stories but as people re-told them some parts may have been changed. The goal of these stories is to transmit moral and values. Mythology also includes the legends, famous people and heroes of our history. They are exceptional people and do things to change the world.
A hero is a person who is recognized and admired by others for their courage, values or noble qualities. It can be the main character in a book or a film or a person with superpowers, like Superman. It could be someone who saves lives and risk his own for others. Someone who gives to others.
So I'll talk of these heroes of everyday, mostly unknow heroes. They are people who have no superpowers but help and change our society.
Every day, some people risk they lives for save others, sometimes its there job, like soldiers, firemen, rescue workers, policeman, etc... Sometimes they are just ordinary people who reacts correctly at the good moment.
Heroes of every day, also could be people who gives to others meals, money, love or time, many associations for helping people exist today, like the Coluche's association or Unicef. Associations works with volunteers and donations, its often the people who were in need who are now volunteers or donors like the philantropists, these people give back to the community.
Heroes could be sportsman, politician, or other famous people who are human rights defenders like Peter Norman who fight against condition of black people in US, he had support this cause until lost his olympic medal. He acted with courage, engagment, loyaty and solidarity.
Our teacher asked us to write about our personnal hero of every day. Mine is Christopher Johnson McCandless. His life had inspired me but also some writers and filmmakers. He taught me to have a different perception of life and love. I don't know if you know him, it's the man on the movie «INTO THE WILD». he was a young man who was really intelligent and had different lifestyle and way to see the world. He spent his weekends in the poorest districts of Washington, talking and buying food for homeless and prostitutes and providing them advice to improve their lives. He was really engaged to give back to the world. Before, starting his adventure he gave all his savings being 24,000$ to an association which fights against hunger in the world.
He cares about people in need but also a lot about the nature. He left 3 months cutt himself off from the rest of the world, into the wild, alone. He had an intense life full of dreams and adventures, always with the heart of gold and generosity.
Christopher McCandless didn't changed the world but he changed mine cause he's an exemple that a person still can be not interrested by the money and the luxury but by the love, the life, the adventure and the sharing.
To conclude the notion of Myths and Heroes, the true heroes are heroes of everyday, they can save lives, they can help people, they can fight for their dreams, for the justice, for defend humans rights, they can also just are inspired people. I think we could see heroes everywhere if we want, there are commun heroes but also personal heroes, everyone could see a hero in front of him if he wants, for exemple my dad is my hero.
