Myths and
Heroes
I'm
going to talk about the notion « Myths and Heroes ».
First of all, I would like to give a quick definition of this notion.
A
myth can be defined as a story about gods or heroes, it can be a
popular belief or a tradition or a false notion. A hero can be a
mythological figure, a person who is admired for his or her
achievements, a superhero or maybe a role model or an icon.
In
what Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman could be seen as super-heroes
? To answer i'm going to talk about the several documents I have
chosen.
My
first document is the cover of a book entitled "The first issue
of Wonder Woman". This document deals with Wonder woman an
heroine whose aim was to serve as a role model of all sorts. I have
chosen this picture to illustrate the notion of Heroes because it was
in the time one of the first super-heroines and it is certainly even
today the most famous of them. She can be considered as an heroine
because she possesses an arsenal of weapons, including the Lasso of
Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, and, in some stories, an
invisible airplane. We can see in this picture that she serves the
American army because on the carpet of her horse we can notice that
there is initial U.S. I have chosen this document to illustrate the
notion of Myths because in most adaptations, Wonder Woman is Princess
Diana of a tribe of Amazons whose origins are linked to Greek
mythology. As a conclusion, we can say that this notion confirms the
notion of Myths and Heroes because WonderWoman is an Heroine and she
reflected the myth of the Amazon. (à developper)
My
second document was written by Brian Truitt for the newspaper "USA
TODAY". This document deals with Superman who is considered as
the greatest American hero.I have chosen this document to illustrate
the notion of Heroes because "Superman
has been and continues to be the values and belief about the US"
so Superman must be a good soldier who fight and defend his country.
The USA represent to the world a model of freedom and democracy.
Superman reflects the USA and it's history especially
the fight against the Nazism because he is like an "übercop"
who fight terrorism and criminals. He embodies some American values
such as the Stamina to face issues that seem impossible to
overcome. He symbolized a strong feeling of patriotism " he
stands for truth and justice"
(feuille3). I have chosen this document to illustrate the notion of
myths because he is the "synthesis" of a number of
emblematic figures. In the Greco-Roman mythological world, Superman
is an avatar, a rewriting of Hermes / Mercure from whom he borrowed
the movement speed and quality of "communicating". Thanks
to several aspects of his personality, it is also close to Prometheus
because he rubbed
to
gods and wishes to help people, to bring them a knowledge... As a
conclusion we can say that this document confirms the notion because
Superman is the Hero with a capital H because he represents the power
of the USA and he helps the population and as the
text tells us, Superman is an "übercop".
I
have chosen a picture of Batman as my own document. Batman
is the secret identity of Bruce
Wayne,
an American billionaire, industrialist, and philanthropist. Having
witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on
criminals. I have chosen Batman to illustrate this notion because
he reflect the concept of heroes even if he possess any powers. He is
different but he saves the world as Superman. He has trained a lot
for compensated the fact of having no power. That's why I think that
he deserves as much as other heroes to be considered as a hero
because he serves the Humanity and help each other even if he is
different. Batman confirms the notion of myth and hero because he is
a hero as Superman and he saves also the world but in its way.
To
conclude, i have chosen this notion because ...

In
what Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman could be seen as super-heroes

chosen.
My
first document is the cover of a book entitled "The first issue
of Wonder Woman". This document deals with Wonder woman(always remember to use a semi colon)an
heroine whose aim was to serve as a role model of all sorts. I have
chosen this picture to illustrate the notion of Heroes because it was
