Bonjour, voici mon travail sur le thème de mythe et héros pour l’expression oral en anglais. Pouvez-vous me dire si mon travail est correcte et s'il y a des choses à modifier. Merci I’m going to deal with the notion of myths and heroes. First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion. A myth can be defined as a story about gods or heroes, it can be a popular belief or a tradition or a false notion. A hero can be a mythological figure, a person who is admired for his or her achievements, a superhero or maybe a role model or an icon. A hero is a courageous person who is ready to sacrifice himself to rescue other people’s. My problematic about this notion is why are myths and heros so important to our society. To answer at this question I delimited my expose at 3 part, the first part is an example of a myth. In the second part a heroe of fiction and to finish a real hero. I) A myth . The most famous myth is the American dream. The American dream was born in the 16th century, during the colonization of America by England. To incite the English to become colonists and to leave for the Americas, one exaggerated the merits of this new ground, then symbol of success for those who would choose to go there. The speech remained but it has since changed a little. The American dream is a hope for anyone who arrives in the United States: there, it would be possible to build a success through perseverance and work. This without distinction of origins, customs or religions. The American dream still attracts today many migrants in search of success, especially financial, whether to find work, start a business or succeed in an artistic career. On top of that, we have the heros II) A hero of fiction . On one hand the heroes of fiction like superman. Superman is a superheros who has superpower. Superman carries with him a political emblem: that of the oppressed Jewish people who see Nazism overwhelm Europe. Indeed, Superman starting from his home planet where all the inhabitants will die, arrives in exile on the Earth and precisely in the United States. This is reminiscent of the emigration of Jews from Europe to America seeking a better future. Moreover, sending the baby into a spaceship is similar to the myth of Moses (he is basically the savior of the Jews). Superman is the representation of a better world, or the economic crisis and at the heart of this troubled period. It conveys all the major American ideologies as goodness and altruism. He also dons the costume of the average American (Clark Kent). Superman is a symbol more than anything else. A symbol of hope for all of us. The symbol of the best friend.Superman is the father of all superheroes, the very aura of a hero, righteousness, justice and all that he represents make him a model that we want to inspire on a daily basis. III) A real hero On the other hand we have the real heroes like the police officers, firefighters, doctors etc. who save the lives of millions of people every day. But I want to talk about a heroe in particular who showed courage in rescuing hundreds of people a few years ago in a plane crash. I'm talking about Sully or the miracle on the Hudson. Chesley Sullenberger is the man who made a feat in 2009: the emergency landing of an Airbus A320 on the Hudson River that borders New York. It was January 15, 2009, at exactly 15:30 and 43 seconds. A violent shock with wild geese destroyed both turbojets two minutes after taking off from LaGuardia airport. Sully, as his relatives call him, had to make a quick choice: try to reach the airport, with the risk of crashing, or try to land on the Hudson. This is the option he chose. He managed to save the 155 passengers and crew members. Sullenburger is one of the bravest men. He did not abandon the plane. He could have taken a parachute and jumped leaving hundreds of life but he did not do it he stayed on board. It's a model for everyone. Conclusion In summary, the American dream gives hope to people and gives a good image of the United States. The American dream was famous because many people take the example of celebrity trails that started with nothing and became rich and famous. They think that when they go to the United States, their lives will improve. In conclusion, in my opinion, myths and heroes are important to our society. Because they give hope, they give the motivation not to give up in one's life. They push us to give the best of ourselves. People need heroes like Superman to fight injustice and inequality in the world. But they also need myths like the American dream to keep hope that we can succeed one day. Since the end of time, society still needs myths and heroes, because everyone wants to believe in miracles, that anything can happen ... These people, real or fictitious, give credence to an oppressed population who really need. Merci
