I am going to talk about form and location of power
First of all, I would like to give a definition of this notion: The power is the ability to control others, events, or resources; it is the ability to make things happen despite the obstacles or any kind of resistance or opposition. Of course, this leads to conflicts between those who have power and those who don’t.
This year in class we studied several documents about the idea of progress and in particular two reportages, four texts and two soundtracks.
In order to illustrate this notion, I have chosen to talk about the cost of studies in the United Kingdom and in the United States because money and having a diploma can be considered as a form of power. However, the two instances are different: the cost of studies in the UK deals with the rise of tuition fees and in the US, I’ll talk about the college debts.
For all these reasons, we can ask what the consequence of the cost of studies in the UK and in US.
To answer this question I will present two documents, « Student’s discontent » and « i don’t care what it costs »

The first document I have chosen is a reportage taken from CNN Student News. It deals with the student demonstrations that took place in London on December 9, 2010. Participants were protesting against the adoption of a government-proposed law to raise university tuition fees from three thousand £ to nine thousand £.
This may have the opposite effect of the view of the students for whom this increase will discourage many pupils from joining a university because of the price, which will disadvantage the poor and the point of view of the proponents of this reform for whom higher tuition fees are necessary: the country needs to reduce its deficit and for whom if you go to university, you get a better job, you earn money and you can pay the loans back.

The second document I have chosen is a reportage taken from Umass Boston. It deals with the increase in tuition fees at university and the difficulties students face in financing their studies, through the testimonies of several students.
This has the effect of forcing students to apply for scholarships, ask for student loans that they will have to pay back when they have completed their education, work part-time, or ask their parents to help them if they can.
In conclusion, we can see the consequences of the cost of studies in the United Kingdom and the United States. The cost of studies can entail many risks for students such as not being able to join university or being endured for a very long time as the former President OBAMA. However, the university is advantageous because educated people are more likely to find a job.
We should also ask ourselves whether everyone should go to higher education?
