The term "Stolen Generations refers to the children of Australian Aborigines and Torres Strait native forcibly removed from their parents by the Australian government since 1869 until about 1969. These children were mostly Métis Aboriginal mother and white father. They were placed in orphanages, boarding, or entrusted to Christian missions or with white foster families.   In 1997, a report entitled "Bringing them home" (The take home) details the history of these practices, publish testimonials, and suggests that about one hundred thousand children belong to the "stolen generations".   On 11 December 2007, the federal government led by Kevin Rudd promised a formal apology on behalf of the Australian Government.
