So I’m going to present you the notion of « the idea of progress ». First of all I’m going to give a definition. The idea of progress basically consist in believing that the world can become better un terms of art, sciences, technology and liberty. But a progress isn’t always good, it can be a negativ progress. Now I’m going to develop several aspect of the notion, firstly we will talk about the indistrual revolution in england.
The "industrial revolution" is characterized by the transition from agricultural and artisanal dominant society to an industrial and commercial company whose ideology is technician and rationaliste3 . "Industrial Revolutions " (plural ) denote the different waves of industrialization that follow one another in different countries in modern times , since the industrial revolution emerges actually offset in time and space by country . The first areas to have industrialized have Britain in the late eighteenth century and Belgium, northern France and Switzerland in the early nineteenth century : it is the countries of the first wave. Germany and the United States are industrializing from the mid-nineteenth , Japan in 1868 and Russia in the late nineteenth : they form the countries of the second wave.
Demographic changes Despite the decrease in birth rates in the major industrial countries , the population increases sharply with the decline in mortality . The industrialization and the presence of plants in the cities The rural population , attracted by the urban employment declines and therefore the threshold of 50 % of city dwellers is crossed in all industrial countries between 1850 and 1940. Urban Living conditions are difficult with high rents , poor housing . However much progress is made with the improvement of urban transport, the occurrence of gas and electricity
essai de rajouter des de plus ou par ailleurs etc bonne chance !!!
