Identifying the cognates in the executive summary helped me better understand the text because I already knew the meaning of many of the words, so I didn't have to look them up in the dictionary. This allowed me to read the text more easily and comprehend the content more quickly. Additionally, the cognates also helped me understand the context of the words and how they related to the rest of the text. By discussing these ideas with a classmate, we could also share our difficulties and experiences reading the text and discuss strategies for better understanding it. Then, we could share these ideas with other classmates, which would allow us to learn from each other and have a deeper understanding of the content of the executive summary.
