Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tomorrow's future. My name is Doctor Johns, I'm a neurologist ans a scientist. Before I tell you about tomorrow's future, I will tell you about the past and the present. When I was a child, I was passionate about human evolution, especially prehistory. I wondered all mornings how our species could evolve from mere primate to present-day man and to understand this, I was persuaded that I had to become an archaeologist. But I was wrong, I didn't want to understand past history but rather to know what drove the human to evolve.

There isn't right or wrong answer, but in my opinion, the people we are today are the culmination of our ancestors wanting to meet the needs of man. I became a scientific neurologist to continue what our predecessors began. That is, to evolve the human being. As we can see, technology is part of us. We all have a phone, a computer, a washer… . However, some people discredit these devices. What people see as negative in these devices and this evolution, I see hope. You must wonder why hope. Because thanks to science, inventors and many others, we give hope in many areas. Today I’m going to talk about one area in particular: medicine. In two centuries, life expectancy has tripled from 25 years in 1750 to over 80 years today. The infant mortality rate has also decreased. These were possible thanks to the evolution of medicine with vaccine, medical equipment, more qualified personnel. Today with the state-of-the-art equipment at our disposal, we give to disability hope like the blind, people who have lost their leg or arm, people with cancer, through implants connected to optic nerves, prostheses like bionic leg or bionic arm or treatments. Thus with help of its devices or treatments, we want to meet the needs of these people but above all we want to give and make available the necessary care, to enable them to fulfill their dream and to give them hope in life.

As I said before, this desire to advance the human being, can be categorized in a movement called trans-humanism, that is to say how to influence, improve, intervene on human evolution but also how to exceed the boundaries to the beyond the average man by improving it. For example, in recent years, many researchers have been looking for ways to stop aging or have much longer life-span, increase in our QI, our muscle capacity because despite numerous technical advances, humans remain weak with short life-span, a diminishing health as we age and a drop in cognitive capacities. It is clear that this will happen one day, but for now, we must focus on current problems, such as cancer or incurable disease… in order to meet other needs one day and to enable the people of tomorrow to find a solution so that people can no longer die of illness.

We therefore invite you to reflect on the fact that the human is in perpetual becoming and to continue with us this fight, this will to heal man, to improve him and to see his evolution. Because those are our choices that will create our future and that of our children.
