Presidents of Mount Rushmore



Mont Rushmore is a monumental granite sculpture made between 1927 and 1941 by the two sculptors Gutzon and Lincoln Borglum (father and son), which is located in the United States in South Dakota .







Portraits of four American presidents appear on it.









These sculptures trace 150 years of the history of the country, the four presidents who figure there were the most significant in American history, from left to right:





In first George Washington





George Washington was the Chief of Staff of the Continental Army during the War of Independence (opposing the North American colonies to the Kingdom of Britain from 1775 to 1783), before being the first president of the United States (1789-1797). he is at the origin of American democracy; it represents the birth of America.


In secondly Thomas Jefferson



Thomas Jefferson was a member of the Republican Democratic Party, then the 3rd President (1801-1809), and was part of the Enlightenment elite (in the 18th century). He was also the editor of a part of the Declaration of Independence, it represents the expansion of the country.





In third Todore Roosevelt



Theodore Roosevelt, Republican, was the 26th president (1901-1909), known for his so-called big stick ("big stick") foreign policy, he represents the development of the country.





In fourth Abraham Lincoln



Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President (1861 to 1865) and the first Republican President of the United States, the architect of the abolition of slavery; it represents the preservation of the country after the risk of secession (voluntary separation of the population of a territory), during the Civil War (1861-1865).
