On résoud l'équation suivante :

On a a = 1 ; b = -4 et c = 3

[tex]\Delta = {b}^{2} - 4ac = ( - 4) {}^{2} - 4 \times 1 \times 3 = 16 - 12 = 4[/tex]

On a ∆ > 0 donc 2 solutions dans R :

[tex]x _{1} = \frac{ - b - \sqrt{\Delta} }{2a} = \frac{4 - 2}{2} = \frac{2}{2} = 1[/tex]

[tex]x _{2} = \frac{ - b + \sqrt{\Delta} }{2a} z = \frac{4 + 2}{2} = \frac{6}{2} = 3[/tex]

On peut donc factoriser l'expression à l'aide de la formule suivante :

[tex]\boxed{ax {}^{2} + bx + c = a(x - x _{1})(x - x _{2}) }[/tex]

On a ainsi :
