Taking the texts above into account, analyse the following statements and the relationship between them.

I. A top-down approach to listening means first listening for the more general ideas and then graduallyexplore more specific information and smaller pieces of language. A bottom-up approach, on the otherhand, starts with the analysis of the smaller bit of language and gradually builds its way up towards moreglobal ideas.
